The Hawthorn Arlington Description
The Hawthorn is the brainchild of Monument Realty, a very active developer here in the Washington DC area. Other notable Arlington buildings that Monument Realty has developed are The Odyssey Arlington (condominium in Courthouse) and The Point, an office building in Ballston.
The Hawthorn is located at 820 N Pollard St in the Ballston / Virginia Square neighborhood. It is a luxury condominium and not a hotel, despite what Google Maps may tell you. The Hawthorn has 135 units situated on 9 levels. The main entrance on North Pollard Street features a smaller lobby with nice finishes and gleaming floors. There is the management office to the left of the entrance while the fitness center, business center, and outdoor courtyard are down the hall to the right.
Floor plans at The Hawthorn range from smaller one bedrooms to spacious two bedrooms. The largest floor plan at The Hawthorn is the ‘Cypruss’ which is over 1500 square feet in addition to a balcony and ample closet space. Finishes at The Hawthorn are upgraded and many units feature gourmet kitchen with granite counter tops and stainless steel appliances, hardwood floors in the living space, and walk-in closets in the bedrooms.
The best part about living at The Hawthorn is the luxury, the location, and the smaller community. It is not an enormous building that you can get lost in. At under 150 units, it is a medium-sized build. Condo fees will not be extraordinarily high because of the lack of pool and 24 hour concierge. The downsides of living at The Hawthorn is that there are no 3-bedroom floor plans. Two bedrooms top out at 1,500 square feet. There is also no rooftop deck and no outdoor pool (as stated above), so depending on preferences, this could be a major (or negligible) aspect to living at The Hawthorn.
