During my daily perusing of Arlington rentals on Craigslist, I come across the usual suspects. They consist of archaic ramblers in western Arlington (think Boulevard Manor), a room for rent in a Clarendon group home (but only if you like Arrested Development and occasionally slap da bass.), and of course two-bedroom apartments in Ballston that are, for a limited time, giving away a bazillion months free if you lease today. Pro tip: Vacant apartments have the specials. Why would you even consider starting your search more than 30 days from your move-in date? It’s a good way to lose out on two month’s rent ($4400ish). Gahh.
Okay, back to the point.
But today I stumbled upon (do people still use that site?) a unique listing that needs more attention before it is leased this weekend and never to be seen again for 360 days.
The property is your regular 450 square foot 1-bedroom 1-bathroom cottage. It can be yours for $1,200. It’s located in the Tuckahoe Village neighborhood in Arlington. Where? You could also call it the Parkhurst neighborhood. Huh? It’s across the street from District Taco. Oh, I love that place!
The cottage features hardwood floors on both levels. A kitchenette, toaster over, and I assume a fridge of some sort that consumes the kitchen space. Does it have a stove top? Nobody knows! (Probably not though).
The master bedroom is in the loft area and the ceiling looks surprisingly tall, which should satisfy the taller folks who are concerned about kissing the ceiling in the morning.
The house is walking distance to Harris Teeter, Westover, the East Falls Church Metro, and it’s on a major bus line.
And it’s starting to sound better and better by the minute.
Sacrifice no washer/dryer for some free parking and green space and you’re in business.
What a cool opportunity to rent a unique residence. Arlington needs more carriage homes (or cottage homes in this instance) and english basements! English basements are great. For those that know me, I will hold off on my english basement sales pitch. Perhaps, another post.
But for now, go out and check out the cottage!

I have never met Lyndsay. He (Editor’s note: Sorry Lyndsay for the gender confusion) has never met me. I was not paid to write any of this. I have no affiliation with this listing and wrote this out of sheer curiosity of a great listing in Arlington. Please contact Lyndsay if interested.
